Mariya Kaganskaya’s recent highlights include performing Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Ottavia (L’incoronazione di Poppea), and the title role of Serse at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, performing Olga (Eugene Onegin) with the Russian Opera Workshop at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, and covering the role of Elena in the American premiere of Adam Gorb’s Anya17 for Opera Parallèle. Her other full roles include Cornelia (Giulio Cesare), Volupia (L’Egisto), and Foreign Singer/Lady with a Hat Box (Postcard from Morocco); favorite partial roles include Charlotte (Werther), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Marta (Iolanta), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), The Fox (The Little Prince), and Mme Pernelle (Tartuffe). Upcoming engagements include the world premiere of Elinor Armer’s song cycle Will You, Won’t You? at Old First Concerts and travelling to Suzhou, China, for the iSing International Festival this summer. An alumna of UC San Diego and a 2013 OperaWorks Advanced Artist, Mariya is currently a graduate student at the San Francisco Conservatory, in the studio of Catherine Cook.
