Darla Mattern graduated from the Eastman School of Music in May of 2006 with her Master of Music Degree in Performance and Literature.  Her roles include First Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Georgette in Puccini’s La rondine, Hannah in Léhar’s Merry Widow and Aunt Julia in Robert Ward’s Claudia Legere. Most recently she has been seen as a Reporter in Opera Santa Barbara’s World Premiere production of Stephen Schwartz’s Séance on a Wet Afternoon. In 2009, Ms. Mattern was an Opera Santa Barbara Young Artist and a Music Academy of the West Fellow. She holds her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California, and currently studies with contralto Victoria Hart. Ms. Mattern was both an Em Green Vocal Scholarship Winner and a three-time recipient of the Sheila Allen Vocal Scholarship from the Young Musicians Foundation. Most recently she was a Finalist in the Los Angeles District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
