Jonathon McGee comes to Opera Santa Barbara ahead of the 21|22 Season having spent the better part of the last decade serving in the nonprofit field with an emphasis in marketing. During his time at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute and the Museum of Ventura County, Jonathon shifted focus to fostering new relationships with surrounding communities through digital media and community engagement. 

He has worked with such organizations as the American Alliance of Museums, National Geographic, Woods Hole Oceanographic Society, and others to craft their stories and more effectively engage with audiences both online and in-person through contemporary programming, increased presence in local media/press outlets and impactful digital media.

Outgoing Director of Marketing Joyce Familara who came on during the 18|19 25th Anniversary Season will be leaving to focus on family as she is pregnant with her first child due summer of 2021.

“While there is no one who can ever truly replace Joyce, I am grateful for the opportunity to step into her shoes and continue her tremendous work at Opera Santa Barbara,” says McGee.
