Kimono Show by Takako Wakita for Madama Butterfly

As part of our first noontime concert at the downtown SB Public Library, Opera SB is excited to include a Kimono Show presented by Takako Wakita.

Ms. Wakita is a long-time supporter of Opera Santa Barbara and is thrilled to celebrate our season opener, Madama Butterfly, with a presentation of beautiful, traditional Japanese kimonos from her personal collection that include visiting kimono, wedding and funeral kimono, and men’s kimono.

The noontime concert will feature Japanese art songs and a selection from Madama Butterfly. Models for the Kimono Show include members of the Chrisman Studio Artists, Opera SB Board and administrative staff. Ms. Wakita teaches Japanese language and sushi making classes at Santa Barbara City College, sings for the Santa Barbara Music Club, and has played the mother of Butterfly in all productions of Madama Butterfly at Opera SB–including the upcoming season opener.

Please join us for this special concert and Kimono Show on Wednesday, October 23 at the Faulkner Gallery inside the downtown SB Library.
