
Opera Santa Barbara announces an Opera Lip Sync Competition! There will be a $1,000 cash first prize for the winner.
Thursday, June 7 at 7:30 pm at SOhO Music Club.
Following are the competition rules:
- Each contestant will be allowed one 4-minute (or less) aria or duet.
- Judging will be based on Lip Sync Quality, Costuming, Performance Skills and Originality.
- Each piece must be performed in its original language, i.e., English will only be allowed in operas that were originally written in English.
- Contestants cannot perform to an aria or duet of their own voice/recording.
- There will be 3 judges, and the audience will be allowed one vote, for a total of 4 votes.
There is a $25 registration fee for each contestant and the competition will be limited to a maximum of 15 contestants.
There will be a $10 fee at the door to attend the competition.
